I ran a race today and crossed the line first. I was so excited bc i have been running consistently for three years and I have dropped my times by over 5 min and im close to my highschool racing times as a 40 year old female.

After I crossed the finish line, they were posting live results and it said I was second female bc it looked like someone started a little after me but had a better pace and a better chip time. I was a little upset with myself bc it was only a few seconds difference. They had an award ceremony and they called this persons name to come up but no one showed up. I figured they came and ran and left bc I have done that so many times. The only reason I stayed was bc I knew some other ppl running.

I later get home and look back at the results to see if this person was on Strava (don’t give me that look… I can’t help but wonder who this person was.) It looks like the persons name was removed, my overall placement and female placement bumped up by one place and it now shows I went from 12th place to 11th and I am first female overall. A little bummed I didn’t get to celebrate or get the medal at the race but really happy overall with myself.

No one reached out so I also feel like maybe this is all a mistake too? I don’t know how it all happened, if anyone has noticed this who was in charge of the race or anything. I am going with the official result that I did finish first and I am celebrating here with runners on reddit!!!

Edit: if someone does notice and reaches out… I will be donating the award certificate back to the cause for them to give it to someone else or to give it to one of the survivors that they help. The physical award is not that important to me. I simply love running.

My church provides support, both financially and through volunteer opportunities, to the program that we were running for today. It would have just been amazing to represent my church standing up there. No hard feelings, just annoying and wanted to rant about it. :)
