Looking for general info (new to community)

Hey everyone, I would like to ask some more experienced people as to what they find is the best overall weight vest/plate carrier/pack for rucking.

I am a marine veteran so I guess you can say i have experience carrying weight, but after 10+ years of being out, I'm a newbie again.

Ive been looking around as far as options. I walk 4-5 miles a day at a 13 min/mile pace looking to just add some difficulty. Im not interested in seeing how much weight I can carry, just trying to make things a bit more difficult.

I recently tried a sandbag weight vest, its very minimal. I found it extremely uncomfortable during my 4 mile walk. Weight was shifting around, the vest shifted around, shoulders got sore. Im wondering if the GoRuck plate carrier is any better. Ive seen the goruck packs but they seem a bit much for what I'm looking for. The 20lbs i carried yesterday was the perfect amount of suck, im just looking for a more comfortable suck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Touch lock on fenix 8 while on main screen

Hey guys, I've owned the Fenix 8 47mm solar for a couple months now. I never use the touch screen so this isn't a huge deal but I was messing around with it today and just noticed with touch lock "on", from my main watch face, the touch lock doesn't work. I can't slide to unlock, the touch just doesn't work. If I go into activities or widgets from the main watch face, the touch unlock slider bar appears and works good. Is this a thing for everyone? I've restarted the watch, latest firmware etc. Every stock watch face does this. Do i just suck it up and accept it?

Turkey transition based on time of year

This is me just seeking general information. I moved to Pennsylvania a few years ago and im blessed to have 10 acres private land my neighbor let's me hunt. I am surrounded on each side by properties that have hunters and a big field who the farmer also doesnt turn hunters away.

Early season, beginning of April I will have birds on just about every trail camera on that 10 acres but now in May, its very different. Nothing on camera, birds aren't strutting in the field. I honestly dont think the hunting pressure is anything crazy I think it's more of turkeys being turkeys.

That being said, where do I key in on? The woods is now pretty thick with foliage. Will the gobblers still travel through looking for that next hen? Or will they completely change their routine based on the dense foliage?

I think my issue i have is their is private property not too far away, pristine mowed grass, no hunting allowed, opposite side of a creek. I know the birds hang up there cause I'll hear them on the roost and see them while I do my daily walk.

I guess I'm just curious if it is entirely possible these birds arent leaving these private parcels and I'm just killing time in the jungle.

Just curious, I am in Pennsylvania and our season just started May 2nd. I have trail cam videos of birds breeding April 2nd. I know a lot of people all over the place say turkey season comes in too late. Its hard in PA cause you can't hunt Sundays which means I have the opening Saturday and then I have to wait an entire week for the next hunt with my work schedule.

Anyone still having success? What are some popular tactics? Everything is already over grown i dont even know where these birds go. I feel like my only shot is to apply deer hunting tactics, find known travel areas or food and just sit and wait. Its super frustrating. If our season opened beginning of April it would make for a much better turkey season.

Moved to PA 5 years ago. 4 years of eating tags. 2026 Saturday opener was good to me. This guy caught me off guard, gun in my lap, utilizing my slate call, he snuck in to 10 yards from behind me and never once gobbled. I Was able to keep my composure and got a 12 yard shot on him after he circled around on me. 9" beard 7/8" spurs. Very happy with him.

For whatever reason, I was thinking about storage and activities as I've been logging quite a bit. Does anyone ever go into watch settings>reset>delete all activities? Seems like such an easy process that would free up storage. Is this unnecessary as the watch is supposed to delete the oldest files automatically? I have a fenix 8 which i think has way more storage then I'll ever need, just curious if anyone does this. Id absolutely hate to lose all my health metrics and personal info. I know it says activities only I'm just really hesitant to try it.

Was rinsing off my fenix 8 47mm solar after my workout with the watch bands removed. I noticed each watch band pin has a slight side to side play. Being they are both the same I'm assuming it's normal? There is no damage around the pins on the polymer I've just never noticed until now when I heard small clicking while moving the watch around. Just verifying since the watch is pricey. Wanna be sure it's not a defect. Thanks and sorry for the silly question.

Been going back and forth between Auto-select (SatIQ) and All Systems (multi GNSS, not multi band) for my daily walks. I like clean accurate tracks and distance without burning unnecessary battery. Both seem identical to me. ~2% battery drain per hour and tracks look very similar.

Concerns: not sure when and if SatIQ is switching to multi band. If all systems gives me just as good results while I'm in multi band for half my walk with SatIQ, id be better off with All Systems.

Im a casual do it to be healthy walker. Help me decide between the two. Good news is I prefer both over gps only as half my walk is tree covered.

First, I know the ultrafit is the best strap. I own a couple and I dont disagree. They are fantastic. I recently bought the hemsut "rugged" band on amazon and besides the negative reviews, i love it. That to me is what I want in a nylon band both fit/feel and looks. Beefy but comfortable. I just can't rock it when I've had several people say they have either had their watch fall off, or worse they've lost it...

I have been testing different Amazon brands and can't find anything good. Just tried a bandletic "tactical" band and it's not great.

I wish hemsut could figure out that pretty big flaw that everyone warns me about. Are there other sites or companies besides amazon that sells other options? The ultra is great for daily use and working out. I want a band geared towards camping and hunting. Something thats actually rugged and doesnt just say rugged

I have been testing gps modes (gps only vs auto select vs all systems) with the fenix 8. Today i tried to be very on point with my out and back walk. Did 2 miles out, and instead of walking on the opposite (correct) side of the road, I stayed on the same side with the hopes of seeing a single line track while using auto select gps. Looking at my tracks on connect, it appears I was walking on the opposite side (center of the road at best) for the entire way home.

What causes this? The majority of the walk is clear open air so should be good signal. Is there something specific that causes the track to not overlap intentionally for viewing purposes? Because I know i was essentially back tracking and there isnt a single point where my tracks over lap.

This is strictly out of curiosity. Im really questioning as to why my tracks look the way they do. This isnt like random drift from poor signal it's just a straight up path where I didn't walk. I love the watch, and please dont think I'm complaining. I'm simply curious
