Gain muscle while losing fat?

I started dieting and walking about 4 miles on the treadmill daily in February and since then I have gone from 325 to 290. Obviously have much more to do but the diet and workout routine is going pretty smoothly with only the occasional hiccups. Is it worth it to start doing some slight resistance training along with the daily cardio? Or should I just focus on weight loss first before I try to put on muscle. I do ideally plan on bulking up once I’ve lost the weight I intend to.
