What would you name my class, and how would you define it?

I live in a welfare state, so I can't say I am suffering in my current living conditions, but I know I would have in a more brutal state.

I am autistic, and unable to hold a proper job. I have been granted a disability status, and thus am granted decent benefits.

I world small unimportant assignments as busywork as a symbolic job, with symbolic pay. A small supplament to my livable welfare income.

What class would I exist in, within socialist litterature? I owe no capital. I am not a proper worker.

Perhaps the "Lumpenproletarian" might apply? But does that not mainly apply to the truly destitute?

Realistic writing advice - writing a character with diabetes and insulin pump

This is probably not what this subreddit is for, but I suppose this is a good place to ask.

I'm writing a story, and the main character have type 1, and an insulin pump.
I need some advice on writing this aspect of his character.

What kind of things would a type 1 with a pump be careful about, that healthy people don't even think about?

I'm particularly interested in details about the pump's needle. I suppose this might differ between models, but I would like to know some general details. Does the needle hurt when moving, is it something you'd get used it? Can you put it in and out yourself? etc type details.

What happens is a pump gets soaked in water? Do they typically malfunction?
Presuming a pump needs to be kept dry, how easy are they to remove and reinsert, short term? Like if you put the pump in a waterproof bag before needing to take a swim.

What are the symptoms for a type 1 going without insulin for a day or two? How bad would it be?

If it matters, I'm personally a well regulated type 2, so very few of my own experiences translate to the character I'm writing. I don't even take insulin.
