Okay hear me out…
I just had this random thought about 2 things that I'm obsessed with and now I can’t stop thinking about it.
What if the manga The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn’t a Guy at All (by Sumiko Arai) got a live action adaptation .... BUT as a Thai GL series?
And more importantly… what if Freen and Becky were cast as the leads?!?
For those who don’t know the manga : it’s a light, slice-of-life romance about a girl who develops a crush on someone she believes is a guy ... but who is actually another girl with a very androgynous appearance. It plays a lot with perception, identity, and quiet, soft moments rather than big drama.
I feel like the dynamic could actually work really well ... Freen could pull off the cool, androgynous, almost “untouchable” vibe. Becky fits perfectly with the expressive, slightly chaotic, falls-first energy ✨
I even made a quick comparison (manga vs FreenBecky) because I feel like the energy matches surprisingly well.
Also one thing I’ve noticed (and I might be wrong, I’m still pretty new to Thai GL) is that there aren’t many truly androgynous / tomboy characters. Most pairings are feminine-coded, even when there’s a 'dominant' dynamic. So adapting Mitsuki could be really interesting : maybe using oversized clothes (hoodies, loose pants, layering), more neutral styling and especially body language instead of just visual cues ... ?
It could explore something Thai GL hasn’t really done yet...
Do you think it would work?
Or would they soften the character too much?
Also curious ... WHO would YOU cast instead if not FreenBecky?
I feel like this could either be amazing … or completely flop depending on execution 😅
Edit : forgot to add the image. 🤦
