Hey guys,

I’m based in Europe and looking for a Baofeng (or similar PMR radio) mainly for car-to-car communication in city environments.

Is there any model that would realistically allow fairly reliable communication between cars at around 1.5–2 km without using external roof antennas? Just handheld radios with stock antennas inside the cars.

I know cities are difficult because of buildings and interference, so I’m wondering if this is actually realistic in Europe on PMR446 frequencies, or if I’d need external antennas / a different setup.

Main use case would be road trips and convoy driving.
Any specific models worth looking at in the EU? UV-5R, UV-82, BF-88E, something else?
