I was seen a month ago at the emergency department for my knee. I have both manisci torn and a torn LCL, all they gave me was an ace wrap and 600mg Ibuprofen because Emergency doesn't do MRI's at the local VA so they didn't know that. However the ER doc that "treated me" forgot to put in a direct order to Ortho and that cause me to spend 3 weeks trying to get approval to make an appointment to then make a surgical consolation, mind you I'm 100% disabled. My primary care doctor messed up the consolt and no one told me until I called to figure out what's going on. So again more time waiting and I still don't have my appointment.
Well I was trying to get everything squared away for having surgery withing the month or 2, I stood up from off the floor and extreme pain and I have a insanely high pain tolerance but this is too much. Knee is completely useless now and I can't straighten it or let it rest under its own weight. The VA didn't have a immobilizer for my knee in my size eve though I'm 6ft1 about 215 so I'm not an odd size, they just stopped purchasing the adjustable ones to save money. Now I'm in a full leg splint and I get to wait another few days to even try and make an appointment next week. serious, full-thickness injury where the torn portion of the cartilage flips inward toward the center of the knee and I get to just hang out with it for a while on top of the original injuries.
I know I'm just bitching and there is a whole ass world world war going on and many in the US dont even have Healthcare. Its just mildly infuriating because I'm able to advocate for my self but this is happening to people's grandparents every day. Our Vietnam Vets are being treated like disposable numbers on a sheet.
