I played upheaval barb when the game first launched and quickly swapped to hota, because hota just out performed upheaval. Also, does hota still hit for this ridiculous numbers it used to?

Now that I've come back for s13, every guide I'm seeing is mostly pushing to ww (I hate ww and find it super boring). So I'm looking for builds for these two specs if they are viable and can clear maybe even at t12.

I'm excited to play the game. Never played exiles (played Age of Conan MMO for a few years). I'm currently in Dune. I'm worried about purchasing the ultimate pack and then it go on sale right after the update or soon there after? Is this something that usually happens? What would you do? I know you can't tell me what to do, just asking to see what would people do in my situations.

Couple of questions to you vets:

1. Is there an overall story line that I'm persuing.
2. Is the base building feature pretty much like Dune's?
3. Do clans matter in this game?
4. I keep hearing everyone saying to go to private servers as public ones are infested with cheaters and hackers..is this the case?

I've always had issues with private servers in that I know it would piss me off something serious if someone just decided to up and stop providing service to their server, or just delete my character. Are there private servers that have been around for years that are populated that you wouldn't really worry about it going under? If so, is there somewhere outside of game to see a list of the servers, their rules, applications etc?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm excited about playing exiles and never though about a survival crafting game until I played Dune. I however, dont' have a lot of faith in Funcom as a developer so I have these questions before I drop my money.

EDIT: I didn't expect all these replies. I thank you all for your input. Just bought the base game with spitah and will hold off on the dlc's. I think i'll try a private server as I tend to like being around the RP community ( I don't rp myself..but I like being around them). Thank you again.

EDIT2: Thank you again for all the replies. I did end up buying the base game/spitah..but didn't really get to play much if at all yesterday and probably not much today. I did see what the graphics looked like in ue4 (not to say there are bad, because they aren't..still a very pretty game), so I'm happy to see the game going to ue5. I'll have more time after tommorow..so I can enjoy the enhancement.
