Which games do you think are the best melee combat focus games that aren't actually CAGs?

Games like:

-Monster Hunter

-Dragons Dogma

-Kunitsu Gami

-Sekiro

-Bloodborne

-Dark Souls/Elden Ring

-For Honor

-Batman Arkham series

-Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor

-The Warriors (ps2, Rockstar)

-The lord of the rings: Two towers/ Return of the king (ps2, EA)

And honorable mention for the arcade beat'em'ups like Double Dragon, Final Fight, Golden Axe, Cadillac and Dinosaurs, Capcom's D&D, etc

Do you agree?

What other examples can you think of?

It may be a fair criticism that DMC V doesn't have a very interesting level design but instead of taking inspiration from FromSoftware's work, they should continue what another DMC did: the reboot by Ninja Theory

The reboot has many flaws in its combat. However, its level design is brilliant and surprising, while still remaining a linear, arcade-style game

DMC games don't need a complex, semi-open or intricate level design like a Souls game, which would kill their pacing and affect their replayability. That kind of level design It's perfect for Souls-like, but DMC games are much more arcade in their aproach

The Ninja Theory's DMC have really memorable level design, like the disco mision, but stil playing within the limitations of being an arcade and linear game

What type of level design do you think is most suitable for the series?
