Accidentally plugged charger into OTG port – now USB data doesn't work. Is it dead?
Guys, I made a dumb mistake: I plugged a USB-C charger into the OTG port instead of the DC port (original R36s, sure about it).
Now I can't get any USB data connection to work through the OTG port.
I've tried:
- to connect my Android phone (phone doesn't detect any connected device, USB tethering option stays greyed out)
- Connecting to a Linux PC (Ubuntu) – no new network interface or storage device appears at all
- Multiple cables (original phone cable, original iPad USB-C cable) – same result
- Both ports on the R36S – only the DC port charges, neither shows data activity
The LED does light up when I plug a cable into the OTG port, so there's power going through, but zero data recognition from any device I connect to.
Has anyone else fried their OTG port by accidentally using it for charging? Is it a known issue with the R36S? Is there any way to fix it, or is the data circuit permanently damaged?
Thanks for any help
