Percy Jackson’s Artemis isn’t a daddy’s girl [general]
There have been a lot of criticisms about Artemis. Many have a point, some of them strike me as bad faith or misunderstandings though.
In those threads I see the argument that Artemis is a huge hypocrite for disliking men while being a daddy’s girl. Especially since Zeus isn’t a good man himself. If that were true it would be hypocritical. But Percy Jackson’s Artemis is never said to be close to Zeus.
People are getting this idea from the myths, where Artemis does things like sit on his lap and run to him when she’s crying. Artemis in the myths and Artemis in the books are very* *different. (Could you even imagine Pjo Artemis acting like that?)
In Percy Jackson Artemis doesn’t speak highly of him. She’s never shown to have a genuinely loving relationship like in the myths, instead she just knows what to say and do to around him.
