I don’t think this is a first time issue here, but I kinda feel like crap. My team recently hired a manager externally from banking - he initially was a bit unprofessional and I let it pass trying to keep the peace and work through my job. However now after working with him for one year, things have only gotten worse.

  1. He creates success criteria on the fly and is setting me up for failure
  2. Is annoyed if I receive any positive visibility
  3. I have a good relationship with my skip (senior director) and he doesn’t like it
  4. He’s also very unpredictable and I’m starting to document everything to protect myself, yet I can’t always call him out with the fear of more retaliation

It’s making me doubt my own capabilities and I’m surely feeling burnt out, because more than work I am managing emotions of a man child.

I’m actively looking for a role change internally, does anyone have any good advice?
