I have a 3MO who has been fighting sleep with all his mights since 2w old. His “thing” is movement: he falls asleep while being rocked, bounced, walked, etc. He sometimes falls asleep in the carrier and sometimes in the pram. He is rocked to sleep before naps and bedtime. HOWEVER, he cries his lungs out while being rocked to sleep, whether it’s for naps or at bedtime. I know he is tired and he eventually falls asleep, but I just would like him to not suffer while doing so! Unfortunately, the only movement that seems to kind of calm him down are squats. I CANNOT DO SO MANY SQUATS. I know he doesn’t like to be held in a horizontal position so I hold him upright but he still cries. I’m trying to transition from squats to swaying and walking since I don’t mind walking around the house to help him fall asleep but I can’t when he cries so much! I’ve tried everything to get him to not cry before a nap or bedtime but I’m failing. He even cries in the pram before falling asleep. As soon as he realises it’s bedtime, he starts crying.
He is BF but he has somehow lost the association boob=sleep. It rarely works now.
Any advice to get him to stop crying before falling asleep? I know it’s different from CIO because I’m holding him the entire time but it still seems really stressful for him.
