What are some reasonable prices for GPUs? Specifically 7800 xt. The cheapest I've seen was like 350 but I didnt buy it because I thought that was too good to be true.

I've seen 500+ plus for used but I've been told to stay away from used cards.

And then the new ones are like 700 and up. Idk if that's normal or with just how high everything is now. Shoukd I buy at that price range or just hold out?

Hey guys, a console player here looking to make the switch to pc gaming but also still want the console feel. Yes I could wait on the steam machine but I figured with the price speculation being as it is i would be better off building my own or buying a prebuilt.

I have 3 problems all together.

  1. Convincing my wife!

  2. I do not know anything about building a pc or putting it together myself.

  3. How much do I spend on it?

I have 2000-2500 I'm willing to put on it but I dont know if that's too much or to little. I also want it to be good enough if one day I do want to get into pc mouse and key gaming I could.

I just want some advice or guidance.

I as most people here that is looking forward to the steam machine is looking for to the living gaming aspect of it among other things.

Right now I'm at the crossroad of waiting out for it or just building me a living room pc for TV use. I kinda just want advice on which path I should take.

Im at the point of if it's 900-1000 I'll just buy a prebuilt or build it and stick it in the living room on the TV and maybe use it on a monitor from time to time

Before I get roasted for this let me say I am a console gamer, I've been playing Playstation since a kid I'm 32 now. I know nothing about what parts I need how to put it together or anything.

I bought a steam deck in November and did most of my gaming on there. Didn't realize it doesn't do heavy games that well but I loved the system so much that it makes me want to switch.

I realize that the Steam Machine is coming out soon and I could wait on that but I figured I could build something and get more out of it and upgrade along the way if needed.

I would just like is for it to be mid size so it's out of the way of the wife and kids.

I can't offer you anything more than thanks and some entertainment doing this lol
