Used this as my office daily driver and this is genuinely how I feel about it:

Let's start with the unboxing because this one deserves it. The packaging is just elegant. It's one of those boxes you actually want to keep on display. And opening it up you're greeted with a hard shell carrying case which just instantly sets the tone. Qwertykeys always delivers on this front and the Evo80 is no different. Premium feel from the moment you get into it.

Now onto the board itself. I received mine in the Sandgold colorway and it is just gorgeous. The anodization is excellent and the overall design is understated and minimal in the best way possible. It doesn't scream for attention but it absolutely commands it. The back weight with its subtle branding ties the whole look together perfectly.

The Evo80 comes in two variants, a thocky PP plate option with Keygeek Oat switches and a clacky FR4 plate option with HMX Azure switches. Both sound great straight out of the box and most people are going to be very happy with the stock configuration. For the enthusiasts though, the stock setup leans a little heavily on the foam. But here's the thing, Evoworks thought about that too. The ball catch mechanism makes getting into the internals effortless and the magnetic pogo pin connection means no wires to stress about. Genuinely great quality of life features especially for beginners just getting into tinkering. My recommendation is to leave a few pieces of foam in there to balance the acoustics and the flex since the FR4 plate combined with the metal leaf spring gaskets does get a little bouncy when stripped completely bare. Play around with it and find what works for you.

The included keycaps also deserve a mention. Thick PBT, crisp lettering and genuinely great quality overall. Not something you'd expect to be pulling out of a prebuilt at this price point.

Now for my minor gripes. The placement of the on/off switch isn't the most convenient, though I understand the decision to preserve the aesthetics. And please, for the love of the hobby, just make boards VIA compatible out of the box. Nobody wants to hunt down a JSON file before they can start remapping keys. Minor things but worth mentioning.

Overall the Evo80 is a board that makes you step back and appreciate just how far prebuilts have come. It's not the endgame we're all chasing but it's a board that delivers on elegance, acoustics, typing feel and value in a way that both beginners and enthusiasts will genuinely appreciate. If you're in the market for a TKL prebuilt, this one absolutely deserves your attention.
