I am looking at getting a new CC and came across the Venture X. I see that it has a $300 annual travel credit and 10,000 miles annual anniversary bonus =$400. With the travel credit, cant you just book a hotel for a weekend and go on a trip for free essentially? Plus, with airport lounge access, its a really good deal for ‘just’ $395 AF? And you get $120 for the TSA Precheck credit.

I see that it says you need to use the Capital One travel portal to use the $300 credit. Is this the catch? Are the prices on their portal really bad or something? I am trying to make sense of it but it seems like a too good to be true situation. Especially since other lounge access cards from Chase and AMEX have a $795/$895 AF. Am I missing something.

**Sorry for posting in the plat community but I am completely unable to post this exact post in the AMEX community for some reason. But you people are probably just as knowledgeable about this topic. Plus, if anyone knows why I couldn’t post it there, lmk.**

I was looking at getting the BCEC card when I saw the BCPC. I primarily wanted it for the 3% CB so naturally the 6% for BCPC looked more appealing. However, after further analysis, I feel like its the worse card between the two because of its $95 fee.

You have to spend over $3400 on groceries(supermarkets) annually to make about what you would make with the BCEC when taking out the $95 fee from total CB earned.

But the BCPD loses the 3% CB on online retail purchases.

I feel like the 6% CB on streaming services is not going to justify losing 3% CB on Online retail purchases. Which in this day and age is probably the biggest category where people spend money.

Also, can you do anything else with the reward dollars besides just statement balance and amazon? Like can you transfer them to the premium cards down the line as points or something?

For example, if I understand correctly, Chase has a points system even for their lowest entry cards which can then be transferred over to their premium cards to stack those points and make better use of them. I could be wrong but thats what I have understood so far. Sorry, I am very new to this and still trying to learn but there is just so much info and a lot of jargon out there.

Could someone help me understand why the BCPC has a $95 annual fee? Are there other benefits? TIA.
