Julie explains that she draws a mark( of something shown in the kids book) and throws it in the past wherever she storywalks to and she takes a piece of paper from her pocket with the same symbol and here where my doubt arises

Does the action of hers drawing and dropping a piece of paper automatically create a replica in her pocket??? If yes, how is that possible?

Maybe she drops a bookmark and writes the description of the scene where she storywalked into to and it transports her but if that is the case how tf that the mark in her pocket got erased ( or does not exist automatically)

I'm so confused, I will be really happy if someone explains it
