I am looking for some genuine long term friends. Someone who I could spam randomly during the day when I get bored (or you can spam me). And also someone to play games with. My favourite games to play are Roblox, Minecraft, Fortnite, Palia, RDR2, Forza Horizon 4, Marvel Rivals but I’m also down to try any other game that people may recommend. My favorite artists are Chase Atlantic and NAYM. My hobbies are reading, listening to music, gaming and baking. I would prefer people who are twenty or under.

I (17) feel like I keep getting let down when trying to play games with certain people, and I’m not sure if I’m overthinking it or if I should just stop asking.
There are two people in particular. With both of them, I’ll ask if they want to play and they’ll either not respond, or say yes and then just not show up. This has happened multiple times, not just once or twice.
One example: I asked one of them if she wanted to play later, she said yes, and I waited for hours with no message. Another time, I messaged someone in the morning and they replied right before “falling asleep” saying they might be on the next day and asked if I had a specific mod for the game. I stayed up until 1am setting that mod up so I’d be ready.
The next day, they appeared offline on Discord and Steam, but I could see their game hours going up, so they were playing but just didn’t say anything to me. No message, no cancellation, nothing. After that I didn’t even bother asking again.
Also, neither of these people ever ask me to play first, it’s always me initiating.
For context, I did have some past conflict with them, but I apologized before the start of the year because I didn’t want to carry drama into it. One of them said she’d talk to the other person, but when I followed up she said she hadn’t had time. Shortly after that, I got added back into a Discord server, but things felt different (new 18+ roles, separate chats, etc.), and I’m not sure where I stand anymore.
What’s confusing is that I asked a third person (who they kind of have drama with), and she said yes and ended up playing with me for about 6 hours straight, no issues at all.
At this point I feel like I keep putting in effort and getting nothing back. I’d honestly be fine with a simple “no,” but saying yes and then disappearing makes it worse.
Would you take this as a sign to stop asking them completely? Or is there something I should be doing differently?
