Hey, I’m currently studying architecture at U of T ( undergrad ) and I’m thinking about becoming a high school teacher in Ontario.
I keep seeing that I need 2 teachable subjects and a 2-year BEd, but I’m confused about how the teachables actually work.
- Does architecture count as a teachable subject?
- How many university courses do you need for one teachable?
Right now I’m planning to do a specialist in the comprehensive architecture stream, and I have about 5 elective credits. I was thinking of using those for math or chemistry.
Would that be enough to count as a second teachable? Or do teachables have to follow specific subject requirements?
If anyone has gone through this (especially from a non-traditional degree like architecture), I’d really appreciate some guidance.
Thanks!
