This sub has been really kind to me before, I hope it will be again!
When I was in uni/my early twenties, I used to dress really nice. Not designer or particularly 'fashionable ' but cute high street stuff in my own style. Unfortunately since then I've had a lot of physical and mental health problems that mean I don't go out much anymore and don't have the confidence to wear my old stuff - plus a lot of associated weight gain that means they wouldn't fit anymore anyway. I'm still coming to terms with it all.
However I still like a lot of the patterns and fabric, plus I'm not great at throwing things out. So I've picked them apart into their individual parts and I'd like to give them new life. Most results when i search for scrap fabric projects turn up the usual coasters, pincushions etc, but because they're dress fabrics I'm not sure that's best. I'd really like to make something to wear, even if just hair accessories and the like.
Fabrics are a mix of t shirt material, some lace, some silky feeling (but probably poly), some lining weight. Plus some lace off old bras and sleepwear, salvaged zips, and other accoutrements. Mostly odd shapes because they're the side panel of a dress, or the front of a small t shirt.
More on me in case it helps with ideas: mid-30s, very low in height, very round in shape. Long hair. Mostly wear leggings with a skirt/t shirt or skater shape dress. Confident beginner-medium ability.
I would love any suggestions, tips, inspirations. Sorry if this is way too long or TMI!
