I am very confused right now and need some real talk. I just joined B.Tech CSE with AI-ML specialization at IST Jaipur (VGU). Everything was looking fine,, but now I'm having second thoughts.
The main issue is that every single student is running behind AI-ML nowadays. Every new college has filled their AI seats and I feel by 2030, the market will be flooded with "AI engineers" but no actual jobs. My father is also very worried. He says IT sector has no job security anymore and who knows when this AI hype will end. He thinks I might end up jobless because of too much competition.
I also have some interest in Electronics because I feel hardware demand will always be there, unlike software which keeps changing every month. But I'm confusedd should I switch to pure electronics? Or is there any way to combine AI-ML with Electronics so I have some extra edge in 2030?
I chose IST because they have a 1-year internship thing, but since I don't have an IIT tag, I am scared. Will AI actually destroy the IT sector or is it just a bubble? If I stay in AI-ML, how can I learn the hardware/electronics side to be safe?
Please suggest what should I do. No sugarcoating please, tell me the ground reality of 2030 market.
TL;DR: Joining BTech AI-ML but scared of market saturation and job security. Confused if I should pivot to Electronics or how to mix both for a better future. Papa is also not convinced about IT stability.
