salaam alaykum everyone,

I wanted to ask this because it's something I've noticed and been thinking about. I previously ran a small marriage group and there was a lot of interest - people were joining, reading profiles and saying they were serious about marriage.

But when it came to actually moving things forward, things would sometimes slow down or just go nowhere.

One thing I noticed was that in some cases, mahram involvement was delayed or not brought in early, even though the intention was to do things properly.

At the same time, there were also people who were clearly interested but just stayed on the sidelines and didn't engage at all. It made me realise that the issue isn't always lack of interest - but more about how people approach the process and what "serious" actually looks like in practice. I'm now trying to rebuild something more structured so expectations are clearer from the beginning. But I'm genuinely curious: what do you think makes people hesitant to involve a mahram earlier, even when they say they want to do things the right way?
