We watch the robins nest in the down spout of our eaves every year. Nearly every year there is a problem but I do enjoy watching the birds. this year has been particularly windy, and the nest has fallen now three times. Sadly two of the babies were lost on the first fall. There is still one left.

In the last fall the nest itself was damaged and is now falling apart. in The picture you can see my attempt to keep the baby as close to the original site as possible but it’s not ideal. I’m worried the ladder will blow over if it gets really windy again and there is less shelter from the rain. The parents do keep visiting the box and feeding the baby. I’m also worried if I keep messing about over there they may abandon it because they feel unsafe. but Once it can attempt to leave the nest will it be able to leave the box?

I know most people who post here about baby birds get absolutely roasted so I’m ready for the char, I just want to know how to repair the nest and put it back if I can or any good moves going forward. Thanks!
