S24 Ultra vs OnePlus 13 - Need a heavy-duty flagship for the next 4-5 years
Hey everyone,
I’m currently looking for a new daily driver to replace my old Realme that is finally starting to die after 3 years of heavy abuse (it dropped a million times, but survived like a tank, though it’s lagging in games now).
I am currently in Germany and my budget is around €1000. After a lot of back and forth, I’ve narrowed it down to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the OnePlus 13.
I initially looked at the Pixel 9 Pro XL, but I'm afraid the Tensor chip will start lagging in a few years, and I want this phone to last at least 4 to 5 years.
Here is my dilemma and what matters to me:
- Performance & Lifespan: I don't play super heavy games, mostly just Brawl Stars and occasional casual stuff, but I use TikTok and Instagram a lot. I need the phone to stay snappy and lag-free for the next 5 years.
- Durability: I tend to drop my phones quite a bit. The titanium frame and flat Gorilla Armor screen on the S24 Ultra look incredibly tough. Is the OnePlus 13 durable enough to survive drops if I put a solid case on it?
- Charging & Battery: The 100W charging on the OnePlus 13 sounds like a life-changer compared to Samsung’s slow charging. Does the real-world battery life on the OnePlus actually beat the Ultra?
- Software & Bloat: I really like clean software (my dad has a Motorola and I love how light it feels). I heard Samsung’s One UI can feel bloated and heavy, while OnePlus' OxygenOS feels more like stock Android. Is that true?
- The S-Pen: Honestly, I don't give a sh*t about the stylus, it will just sit in the slot forever as a dust plug.
Which one is a better blind buy for longevity? Should I go with the "safe bet" tank (Samsung) or the faster, fast-charging "underdog" (OnePlus)?
Thanks for the help!
