Write up at Ross
Is this normal? I’ve only been working at Ross for almost a month. I was pulled into the office two days ago and was given a final write up because they said my register was short $70. I obviously didn’t steal and I don’t remember any incident that could have resulted in the shortage. The store manager told me she didn’t want to go back and check cameras. She said if I was short even five dollars she could terminate me. This manager had been gone for two weeks and one of the days that she was working again she wrote me up. I didn’t have any warnings, or anything like that. I told her I didn’t want to be on the register to risk my job and she said you have to. She blamed it on me counting change right when she doesn’t even know what happened. Shortages can happen. They don’t count the till in front of you so I don’t know what happened if it was a mistake on my part or theirs. I just think it’s unfair because I’ve barely been working there, I was only trained for an hour my first shift and I’m trying my hardest. They want you to be super fast and get through the line as quick as possible. They tell you when you’re not being fast enough. I tried to take my time to make no mistakes and count back change slower but the managers complained and said I need to be faster. I don’t feel supported by any managers, and the store manager was quick to write me up without even recommending I be re-trained.
