My friend said I don’t really work, so I stopped helping her. Now she’s mad.

I’m Jake, 29, and I work from home. My friend is 30 and just had a bad breakup. I felt bad, so I helped her a lot at first. I gave her rides, got food for her, and helped her move her stuff.

Then it started to feel like she expected me to always help.

One day I told her I couldn’t because I had work to do. She got annoyed and said I’m home all day and it’s not like I really work.

That bothered me a lot.

After that, she asked me again to help her run errands. I said no.

Now she’s mad and says I’m selfish because she’s going through a hard time.

I feel bad, but I also feel used.
