Hi guys,

I've had lots of people help me with my last post, thank you to everyone for being so nice.

The place I would like to move into now (Wohnung) is apparently going to be renovated this/next year.

The renovation would include adding an Elevator, renovating the Treppenhaus, installing new windows, replacing the balcony.

I understand due to this, the price of the rent would increase. Has anyone had a similar situation, and had a rent increase? How much extra did you guys have to pay?

Any insight would be really appreciated, of course I would need to read through a copy of the Vertrag once I receive it from the Vermieter, but am curious as to everyone's experience.

Thank you in advance!

Hi guys,

My girlfriend and I found a very nice Wohnung in Mannheim. It is currently occupied by 3 students, and they have lived there for 3 years. Apparently since it is a Staffelmiete, the rent increase by 35 euros for the total of 3 years. Now they told us that the Vermieter would like to give us the Wohnung, but is suddenly saying there will be a 90 euro increase to rent after we move in. I dont know how to feel, as we haven't even met the Vermieter yet. As far as I know, the Vermieter is not allowed to raise the rent during the first 12 months of moving in. Is this a red flag or am I completely oblivious to something? Any help would be really appreciated.

The Wohnung was listed for 1320 Euros, 300 of it being Nebenkosten. The 90 euro rise will be for the Kaltmiete. Place is 90m²
