I’ve been going to Vegas at least once a year for the last decade. Mostly for an annual conference, but it’s also one of my favorite weekend destinations. I’d typically indulge in everything that makes Vegas, Vegas, gambling, drinking, maybe a working girl or two. Which is why I always say Vegas is my favorite place in the U.S. for no more than 3 days, lol.

This year I’m there for a full week for my conference and I know that’s way too much of that scene for me. Every previous trip I’ve stayed at either the Cosmo or Caesars and done everything mid-Strip.

I’m older now, recently married, and not looking for the same things that used to get me excited about these trips. I don’t really want to be in the mix this time around.
Thinking about staying off-Strip, maybe Fremont St? In 10 years of coming here I’ve actually never been downtown. Is it a real change of pace, or is it basically the same scene in a different zip code? Any recommendations on where to stay down there, or other off-Strip options worth considering?
