I’m thinking of picking one of these up tomorrow as my daily commuter and want the opinions of current or previous owners to see if it’ll be worth the money. I mainly drive long freeways so the lack of awd wont kill me, though i hope the handling’s still good enough when i do get the chance to take her on a country road. Ive heard of the con rod failures the V6 can suffer, though as far as i’m aware there is a recall that resolves the issue? how can I ensure the recall has been completed? Is the ZF transmission trustworthy after 70k miles? thanks ahead of time!

I am currently in the used market for either a Genesis G80 or a Lexus GS 350. I am curious as to whether the older 3.8 or the newer 3.5 Turbo would be my best choice long term. I want a car that will last at least 150-200k miles. I’m a mechanic and will turn any wrench I can on it myself but as far as I know these cars warranty lasts until 60k (?) miles for the 2nd owner. Both cars are at 40k miles and sitting around ~$23,000 USD give or take. I’m not the most familiar with genesis’ powertrains so if either have known transmission or differential issues or something as well that would be good to know. tysm 🙏

I plan on buying a car next week and have two options that i’m between. option A is a 2018 lexus es 350 luxury w/ wood trim at 88k miles. option B is a 2016 lexus gs 350 F sport with 111k miles. i know the obvious things like the es has better mpg and the f sport will have a more performance tuned ride but im hoping to hear more in depth pros and cons and knowledge from owners or previous owners. i mainly drive long distance freeways and dont have anyone to put in the backseat. i will also be wrenching on either car myself so labor costs for jobs are less of a concern. thank you
