We need new colonization mods.
MKS and the other classic mods have served us incredibly well over the years and done some amazing work. However, in 2026 they’re starting to feel outdated and sometimes clunky. I’d love to see a modern, streamlined colonization overhaul that lets us gradually build up to truly massive surface outposts and thriving planetary cities.
In my opinion, the dream would be a City Skylines style builder mode and management screen. Something where you can freely plan large colonies in a dedicated view, design your own modular buildings (like in Spore), manage Kerbal population, housing, happiness, and specialists, and handle supply chains + logistics in a much cleaner way.
It would be incredible to start with small outposts and naturally grow them into massive bases with functioning structures. Even having some buildings with IVA would be amazing (I know that might be asking a lot).
Thanks to pioneers like Blackrack, Gameslinx, RoverDude, Nils277, Angel-125, and so many others (Near Future, Far Future, MKS, KPBS, Pathfinder, etc.), KSP1 already looks and feels visually closer to what KSP2 promised. Now we just need the colony gameplay to catch up.
So kerbonauts, my question is:
If a new modern colonization mod like this came out, what features would you want most?

Hey guy, I have over 4000 hours in KSP, but only 30 in RSS/RO, and I've decided to hop on recently, well, I'm having an issue with procedural avionics. I'm designing a lunar satellite, and it has a small hall effect thruster, now obviously, it sucks because you know....it's an ion engine....so I use persistent thrust, anyway, when I start time warping, procedural avionics throws an error suddenly, stating that the set controllable mass is 0.0T which is not true, It's set correctly, what's going on? Are the mod's not compatible or what? If not, what am i supposed to do, I can't leave my computer running for 50,000 hours straight with physics warp on.
EDIT: I'm not sure why I'm being downvoted, I only asked a question, I'm not an experienced player and was only seeking assistance as I get used to the mod. Thank you so far for the help everyone and I appreciate your patience!
