Advice And Tips On Caring For An Eyeless Kitten

I have four cat girls. Two seven month old kittens who are sisters, a three year old and a seven year old.

The seven year old has been with me for seven years, the three year old for three years, and two seven month old cats I adopted three days ago.

I adopted the kittens from an animal rescue my daughter works at. One of them has no eyes.

They are healthy, spayed, and are coming around. The one who can see made herself at home while the blind one seems to want seclusion while mostly staying in the same spot.

I have a twin mattress on the floor with a blanket next to the bed against the wall under a desk. It's almost like a cave for her. I've moved her food near her instead of picking her up and moving her to the food as this seems to create panic.

She doesn't seem distressed at all. I lay in bed and am able reach down and pet her. She seems to not be able to get enough attention. I even fell asleep with my hand next to her. She holds my hand while she sleeps.

Her sister seems almost ready to leave the room. Since they were just spayed, and considering my other cats, I think it's best to keep them in there for about two weeks.

My question is this;

I've never owned a blind animal. It seems very straight forward. I adjust to her needs as they come, and I have been. However, I want to get this right and am open to any advice from anyone who has experience with blind cats.

What was your experience like? What are you currently doing to help her? What would you have done differently? Are there any toys, or methods to help make her more comfortable?

Even though I'm taking them to my vet this week for an initial check up, I'd still like to hear about your experiences with your cat.

Rin and Nia were abandoned in a single room, no window apartment. We rescued them from an animal charity. Rin (the blind cat) was found in a cage and doesn’t seem socialized. Nia is very social.

7 months old.
