[May 2026 Megathread] UX Feedback & Feature Improvements

Hi everyone,

First, we'd like to thank you for the valuable insights you shared in our April post, and we've documented all the suggestions in it. Now, we're launching our May 2026 monthly feedback thread to gather new insights and issues you believe should be prioritized. Similarly, we hope to continue to learn more about the specific pain points you encounter in your daily workflows.

The Process:

  • Share your Friction: What interaction feels "off"? What feature is harder to use than it should be?
  • The Cycle: This thread will remain open for one month or until we reach 100 valid comments. Once the limit is met, we’ll close the thread to give our team time to review every feedback.
  • Our Goal: To turn your frustrations into actionable improvements in future updates.

To help us understand your thoughts more efficiently, you can use the optional feedback format below.

Optional Feedback Format:

Feature: [e.g., Notes/NeoReader/Library/File Manager, etc.]

The Friction: [e.g., Too many taps to customize xx functions/settings.]

Your Suggestion: [e.g., Long-press to customize directly.]

We welcome and appreciate any detailed feedback and suggestions!

Hi everyone,

First, we want to say a huge thank you for the incredible amount of feedback you shared in our recent threads. Your enthusiasm and sincerity overwhelmed us.

We want to assure you that our team has read every single comment. While we would love to implement every great idea immediately, the realities of development mean we must be selective and prioritize what is technically feasible right now. We cannot do everything at once, but we are committed to moving in the right direction, step by step.

Today, we want to share a few pieces of progress we’ve been working on. These aren't finished features yet—just early demos to show you the path we’re taking for a few specific requests.

Here is a first look at what’s currently on our workbench:

Split View for Dual Notes

This request is one we’ve followed for a long time. We truly understand the need to handle multiple notes simultaneously—whether for cross-referencing or multitasking.

Our goal is to make your BOOX device an even more capable tool for high-efficiency workflows. We are excited to announce that this feature is finally on the way. Special thanks to u/chessman2212, u/ImOGDisaster, u/Glum-Control2263, u/stopQQstartpewpew, for providing deep insights in our feedback thread.

To ensure stability and a fluid experience during this initial phase, we are starting with support for two simultaneous notes. Below is a quick demonstration:

Notes Split View Demo

As shown in the video:

  • You can open two notes side-by-side simultaneously. While not explicitly shown in this clip, it will also support switching between horizontal and vertical orientations.
  • They share a unified toolbar, allowing for almost seamless switching of editing focus.
  • Free adjustment of the split-screen ratio.

We still need your thoughts for a few key design decisions:

  1. Entry Path: What would be the most intuitive way for you to enter Split View for dual notes? How should the interaction flow feel?
  2. Multitasking Preference: Beyond side-by-side editing, how much demand is there for a "Tabbed" approach—where you have two notes open in full-screen but can toggle between them instantly?
  3. Any further thoughts on this feature are always welcome.

Calendar Memo Enhancements

Calendar Memo Enhancements

We have significant updates coming to the Calendar Memo to bring it closer to a full note-taking experience:

  1. Full Creative Tools: We will integrate the complete set of brush tools from the Notes app. Then you can switch between different brushes, adjust thickness, select colors, etc. And we will add the Lasso Tool for easy editing.
  2. Two-Way CalDAV Sync: Synchronization will no longer be "one-way." We will support seamless two-way syncing of your schedules (provided your bound CalDAV server supports two-way permission).
  3. Calendar Visibility Management: You will be able to hide or show specific calendars. If you have multiple accounts or sub-calendars, you can choose exactly what to display, keeping your view as clean or as comprehensive as your current task requires.

Here, we want to show special thanks to u/melandrien 's insights posted in the feedback thread.

Highlight Color Matches Pen Brush Color

Annotation experience in NeoReader will be improved soon, thanks to the suggestions from u/Aranace. This refinement is designed to make your note-taking and annotating feel more intuitive and visually consistent.

We are considering adding a toggle in the NeoReader Annotation Toolbar settings. When enabled, your highlight color will automatically sync with your current pen brush color. We would love to hear if you have any additional thoughts or specific use cases for this logic.

Filter by Series / Authors in the Library

In a near-future update, we will add the option to filter your books by Series and Authors, making it much easier to manage larger digital libraries. Thanks to the suggestion from u/Four_Enemy.

A Final Note from the Team

We know that these updates represent only a portion of the goals we want to achieve. Even if we cannot implement every suggestion right away, please know that your voice is the primary driver of our progress. We are approaching these developments with a humble heart and a commitment to listening.

Didn't see the new features or improvements you wanted? Please don't worry, around mid-May, we will share more progress with the community. Let's see more "Suggestions to Realities."

We are eager to hear your honest thoughts on these early previews. Thank you all again for helping build a better BOOX.

Sincerely,

BOOX Team
