I'm a film music composer and would like to apply for the Global Talent Visa as Exceptional Talent. I'm familiar with PACT's guidance, but the Notable Industry Recognition Awards List confuses me. According to the Arts Council’s guidance, advertising is an ineligible discipline, however, multiple listed awards are specifically for adverts (Creative Circle Awards, Cannes Lions, Clio); those don't even allow non-branded films as far as I'm aware. If advertising weren't eligible, why would those awards even be on the list?
Would an award I received for music for a branded film be admissible, as long as the award is mentioned on PACT's list?
I'm also considering whether having a barrister writing and submitting my application would give me any significant advantage, or if my chances are pretty much the same if I do everything myself. I believe that my evidence of international distribution, sales and recognition is very strong, but for the awards category I just meet the required minimum. I'm wondering if a legal expert would be able to build a stronger case than I could?
I would love to hear everyone's experiences :)
