Stone Field Shaving May Mail Call

Stone Field Shaving May Mail Call

So I was telling the wife about my soap experiments with different cheaper shaving soaps (Arko, Viking Revolution, etc) and she said something to the effect that she doesn't use cheap makeups so ... after a bit of browsing the Stone Field Shaving Co webstore, this is what we settled on.

Sippin' By the Fire and Lucky Number 54 soaps and after shave splashes. Saw that he also has an air freshener for the Lucky Number 54 line, so ordered one of those for the truck, too. Jonathan was nice enough to throw in a Henri et Victoria 3 in 1 beard oil sampler and a little wood spoon for soaps.

Happy wife ...

Philips SH91/53 heads

Just changed the heads on my Series 9000, which I bought two years ago because I couldn't get new Philips-branded heads for my Sensitouch 3D anymore. Low and behold, these SH 91 heads actually fit the pop-open head. Two shavers got renewed tonight 😄

Wednesday is for Wilkinson

Well, I used the German classic blades and brush, but not their soap or razors. Warm towel and pre-shave oil for prep. Blue's goat milk and animal fat soap that it says is from New Zealand for the lather, which I'm now very much liking. Rockwell T2 set to 3 1/2. 5th and final shave with that blade - still no tugging. Alum and local small batch Beard& Brawn Urbanite after shave balm to finish. Clean and smooth.

Monday's SotD T2 and Blue's

Hot towel Stone Field Shaving pre-shave oil for prep. Blue's shaving soap whipped up in the Old Spice mug with the Omega boar brush. Rockwell T2 set to 3 1/2 loaded with a Topaz Platinum blade, 3rd shave. Alum block and local small batch Beard & Brawn Urbanite after shave balm for post shave. Very happy with the Topaz blade. I've used this Blue's Goat Milk and Animal Fat shaving soap from New Zealand for about a week now. First shave I was smelling a bit of a sour milk odour with it, but now I'm really liking this soap. I will buy more.

SotD Classic Mother's Day Sunday with the Slim

Hot shower followed by a hot towel and a few drops of Stone Field pre-shave oil for prep. Lather was Blue's goat milk and animal fat shaving soap from New Zealand whipped in the Old Spice mug with the Omega badger. Two passes of the Gillette Slim set to five loaded with a new Gillette Platinum. Post shave was the alum block and Old Spice Musk. Smooth and manly.

All Oatmeal is Porridge

Especially if there's a spoon of Bob's 12 grain cereal cooked into it. Served with a splash of milk and a sprinkle of brown sugar and cinnamon, 1 slice of whole wheat toast with orange marmalade, a half orange and OJ. Great start to Friday.

SotD May8th - Just another Fatboy Friday - you know the song ;)

A warm wet towel then Stone Field preshave oil for prep. Blue's goat milk and animal fat shaving soap from New Zealand whipped with the Omega badger in the Old Spice mug for lather. Gillette Platinum loaded in the '59 Fatboy set to four. Alum block followed by a splash of Old Spice Classic to finish. Great shave but should really remember to set that Fatboy to five next time like I do with the Slim. Happy Friday. :)

Added pre-shave oil to the prep this morning. Don't know if it helps with the shave but it does make the face feel more supple after. 3rd time using the Blue's shave soap from New Zealand whipped in the mug with the Omega boar. Lathers nice, and that sour milk smell I first noticed is gone. Tried out the Topas Platinums from India today with the T2 set to 3 1/2. Blade felt similar to Wilkinson classics though I don't think it was as close. Irritation free so that's good. Finished the shave with the alum block and local small batch Beard&Brawn Urbanite after shave balm. Now off to see a friend with cancer. I HATE that disease.
