Are 30 minute YouTube "specials" worth doing?
I'm just a nobody hoping to find my next step beyond showcases and I've been asked to headline a bar show for the first time this summer. Thinking a few more steps ahead, I'm trying to build the audience I'd need to be a regular headliner. I know most comics scoff at the 30 min "specials" on YouTube, but lately I've heard a few people talking about it more seriously.
Are 30 min sets on YouTube helping anyone grow an audience? Is it more helpful starting from zero following? or after already gaining a small following? Could multiple themed sets work better to target specific audiences? Or would it be better to show a broader intro to your personality with just one?
