I just went in for my first dentist appointment (haven’t had coverage since I was a child) and after they reviewed everything and inspected my mouth gave me their deep cleaning treatment plan. After insurance, my portion for the full deep cleaning comes out to $1,525.00, which for California from what i’ve seen is how much it would be purely out of pocket.
Most of the cost is from them wanting to give me “Local Del of Chemo into Dis” for 13 of my teeth at $90 per. They described it as antibiotics for the areas in my mouth that are harder to reach during the deep cleaning, though i’ve read elsewhere now that normally this is for after the deep cleaning if that alone wasn’t enough.
I really just want to know if I should find a new dentist? Am I getting upsold heavily with these antibiotics I might not need? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
