TIFU by getting scammed
This is not exactly today, it happened a few days back, so I(M24) was scrolling Instagram when I received a follow request from a girl, I have plenty of follow request with me and usually tend to ignore them but for some reason this time I accepted it and started talking with the person and first I was suspicious of the person and wasn't sure if the person on the other side was really a girl or not but after some conversation we shifted to whatsapp and she asked for video call to prove me she was a girl.
I told her I won't be switching on my camera because I am suspicious and once we turned on the video call it was a girl and after than she asked me to show my face as well I ended up doing it because I started to believe it that it wasn't a scam. Soon after things got escalated and we were removing clothes, this is where I made the biggest mistake of my life.
This was my first time do this type of thing on video call and I don't think I will be doing that again because after some time I was sent the video and images and a list of my following. They asked for money in order for them to delete them. I was really scared and kept asking them to delete it and I can't afford to pay,(I am have moved to another country for my masters a month before and we took loan for the blocked account). At first I paid them a small amount and they deleted everything from the gallery and after that they asked me more money to delete from permanent storage and after I fell into their trap of sending more money, they asked for more money to delete it from the whatsapp and that was the final thing that he showed me to delete from and after sending the final amount, the person said the girl took all the money and asked for same amount of money for him as well but at that point I gave up and said I can't do anything anymore, that's when he also gave up from extorting money from me and showed his screen to me, showing he is deleting everything.
In total I ended up sending them €900. I feel so dumb and regret everything and I can't share it with anyone, now I am also low on money and I can't ask for more money from my parents as well. Every night its hard for me to sleep because this event keeps coming back to my mind and I keep thinking what of they still have the videos and they reach out to me next month or so again asking for money.
I have filed a police complain and informed my banks about this as well, but in the police complaint that I filed,I didn't choose the option to report a criminal complaint because I don't want to reveal myself since I am in different country and don't want any of these things to ruin my chances for future.
TL;DR: I made a dumb mistake of falling into a scam of talking to a girl and got extorted for €900 euros.
