Western NC… found this feather in our driveway! What bird is it?!

In this area, we have seen golden eagle, wild turkeys, vultures, owls, hawks and geese. I personally have never seen a feather this large and would love to know what it is from!

ELI5… How does grafting apple stalks actually work?

I’m beginning to learn about vegetable and fruit gardening and I just don’t understand how grafting Apple branches onto other trunks works and why it is necessary in order to actually grow edible apples? Please help!
