Hey everyone,

I’ve got a Fender Jim Root Jazzmaster (USA), bought brand new, and I’m running 10–52 strings in Eb standard.

My low E wouldn’t intonate, it was sharp at the 12th fret with the spring on, so I had to remove the saddle spring and push the saddle to the very end of the bridge to finally get it right.

I’ve seen a few people do the same, so I wanted to ask, is this normal with these guitars?

My main concern is, if I go to heavier gauge strings for lower tunings, I won’t have any room left to intonate. I’ve always heard heavier strings usually need more room for proper intonation, so now I’m wondering if this is going to be a problem, or if I’m just overthinking it.

Has anyone else experienced this or found a better fix?

Would really appreciate any insight 🙏
