Hi all! Can anyone help me with setting up broadband in my new build property? The property was only recently connected to Openreach and so I purchased full fibre broadband as soon as it became available. I checked Sky’s installation instructions, and it says about plugging my router into the “white Openreach box” which should be easy to find inside, yet I can see anything plugged in anywhere?

The attached image is all I could find, hidden away in my upstairs airing cupboard with my pipes - is this it? Do I plug my router into this via Ethernet to get my broadband set up?

Apologies if this is a really dumb question, this is my first time home and I’ve never set any of this up before! As it’s shared ownership with my council, I wasn’t sure if there was someone I need to reach out to or not!

Thanks in advance!

Hi all!

I’m moving into a new build this week (UK) with no previous owners. The property itself was not connected until very recently to Openreach, and I wasn’t able to get full fibre. Last week, I got a notification to say it was now connected. Sure enough, I went online and my property was then showing as able to get full fibre broadband.

I bought my Sky hub as I went with Sky for my broadband. In the handbook, it says about connecting to the internal Openreach box, yet my property doesn’t seem to have one? I can’t see anywhere where it would even go.

Have I missed a step? I’ve only bought shared ownership with my local council, who are technically the landlord in this case, and so I’m not sure if I’m supposed to have done something in preparation for setting up my broadband. My broadband activates in two days time, but I’m assuming plugging my Sky hub into a socket is not going to give me internet access is it? 🤣

Any help would be much appreciated. I feel like I’ve either been left in the dark by the council, or I’ve somehow missed something when starting this process. It was hard enough to get them to connect the property to Openreach, as there was no available internet or broadband before I hassled them, and now I feel like I’m going to have to hassle them again for not getting this right.
