Has anyone used a simple wifi extender to get a little more range on their wifi? I don't want to pay $10 a month forever to get one from Att when I can do it cheaper myself.

I am currently using an old router as a repeater and it works great, except I have to restart it like once a week because it some reason quits letting certain websites (like reddit and discord) work. I believe the problem is the 10 year old router, but not certain. I do have ip passthrough turned on.
