My mother (Maryland USA) has a will and left everything to my sister and I. There are two small life insurance benefits. One I am the beneficiary and she told me to use the money for her cremation. The other she left to my sister. However she is now 93 with dementia and out of money, and I pay her monthly fee to her home. She has credit card debt from medical bills and move in fees to assisted living, respite care etc. I pay her monthly credit card charges with her social security and I pay for her group home. If she dies with some debt, can I still use her insurance policy for cremation or does it have to go to debt., Does my sister have to give up her life insurance payout? There are no other assets.
