I've had this drive for awhile now and it worked fine when I last used it, fast forward 7 or so months and i have a purpose for it once again, but once it's plugged in and detected. Diskpart *almost* stops working entirely, disk management barely works and the drive loves to un-initialize itself, and it damn near prevents my computer from booting. But it's showing up healthy in crystaldisk? I don't really know what's going on here but if anyone has more insight I'd greatly appreciate it
Hello, Ive got my old WD Mybook 1tb hdd here I pulled out of storage after not using it for 6~ months. It worked fine last time I used it but now once I tried plugging it in windows won't detect it, occasionally it'll make the windows connection sound but quickly disconnect afterwards. So far I've tried using diskpart and disk management, both crash if I try plugging it in while the PC is running. I've also tried removing the HDD from the enclosure and using the sata directly into another PC but got no response, the drive spins up and last time I checked was in near perfect health. So Im really curious if this just failed out of the blue or if I'm missing something. Thanks for any tips or suggestions (currently plugging it in causes it to show up in device manager but it will not show up in file explorer, disk management, or diskpart. plugging the HDD into my pc while it's off will prevent it from booting, freeze disk management or freeze/crash anything to do with storage until it's unplugged. the HDD just displays a constant interchanging LED as if it was reading or writing. no important data is on this so if it's really gone it's bound for the garbage and ill get another off eBay.
