Hey everyone,

I’ll be starting a new job soon. Need to be at Union station by 9. So I’d be leaving Markham around 7:30-8:00. I was wondering which Go station in the Markham area would be the best to take to avoid not being able to find parking.

I’ve usually gone to Unionville, but Markham Go it a lot closer. Wondering if any DT goers would be able to chime in on the parking situation at different Go Stations around Markham.

TL;DR - Neighbour’s let their kids smoke weed and play music all day while my dad sleeps in the day for his night shift and we’re WFH on some days.

I have been living at my home for the past 15 years. Now that the warmer weather is coming up again, I have been reminded of my annoying neighbours. My neighbours are nice people for the most part. That is, until their kids grew up. Over the last couple years, their house has become the “go to spot” for friends to hang out at, smoke weed, and play music in the back and front yard. I suppose their parents are just incredibly laid back, I have seen them smoke with their kids as well. I say “kids” but they are probably in their late teens.

To preface this, I have no issues with marijuana, I smoke occasionally too. My friends and I also had a house to hang out with often. Although, I like to think we kept it respectful and tried to not bother people around us. I was hyper self aware growing up and I didn’t wanna bother the people around me. My issue is more so the frequency.

Anyways, throughout the entire day, the kids will have friends coming in and out of their (parents’) house. Loud cars, lots of noise, smoking every day, music playing in speakers… it’s quite literally the most cliche stereotypical teenagers you can think of.

My father works during the nights, so he sleeps during the day. He complains about how it affects his sleep. He’s got ear plugs, blackout curtains, the whole setup. But there’s only so much you can do to block out the noise, and the smell (it’s nice weather, we want some fresh air in our rooms!). Some people in my household are also WFH on some days, and I’m sure other neighbours too. It’s annoying and disturbing. I can’t even reasonably enjoy my backyard in peace, or leave my house without waking past some kids smoking weed some days.

I understand, it is their home. They can do what they want etc etc. They are in their legal right to do it too. Even if they weren’t, bylaw in my area doesn’t really help anyways. But like.. cmon?! Where’s the shame? Where’s the respect for others. If it’s like a party here or there, I totally understand. But almost every day?

The parents seemed like reasonable people. I have spoken to them about the noise. Their other next door neighbour have also spoken to them. Honestly, I think at times, even they are fed up with it too. But they haven’t/won’t do anything about it. They’re giving a “kids will be kids” kind of attitude to it. They don’t care, and honestly, in my opinion they are being bad parents and enabling the kids to do live like this every day.

So I have come to Reddit, to help me find some sort of solution or just to fuck with them to find another place to hang out.

They are (now) of legal age to smoke weed where I’m from. I’m not gonna lie I have even thought of calling child protection services on them in the past years. But I am not one to ruin a family over something like that.

I have considered just using a bunch of smelly fertilizer in my backyard so it always smells bad. Maybe one of those noise makers that only younger people can hear.

I’d rather have a tip that doesn’t let them find out that it’s is me.
