How to find host family in Germany?
Hi everyone,
I'm feeling a bit discouraged and I hope you can give me some advice.
I'm from Benin, West Africa. I have A2 level in German and I'm currently studying for B1 at Goethe Institut. My goal is to become an au pair in Germany starting Sept 2026 for 12 months, because I really want to improve my German and later start an Ausbildung in Pflege.
The problem: I've been on AuPairWorld for 2 months and sent 30+ messages to families, but I get almost no replies. I think it's because I'm from Africa and not already in Europe.
My questions:
Is A2 German really too low for German families to consider me, even if I promise to reach B1 before Sept 2026?
Do you know if German families usually filter out non-EU applicants automatically?
What did you do to make your profile stand out when you were applying from outside EU?
