Why is Mötley Crüe considered a metal band?

I like very few Mötley Crüe songs, but those few I absolutely love. So, even though I don't consider myself a huge fan, I still enjoy their music. However, what I didn't understand was that whenever I looked up information about Mötley Crüe, they were described as a metal band—specifically, a glam metal band. But, honestly, having listened to them, they don't sound like metal to me. For instance, I listen to bands like Mayhem, Cannibal Corpse, Venom, and Slayer; and when I compare Mötley Crüe to them, the band sounds much softer. Furthermore, I’ve heard that glam metal used to be looked down upon precisely because it was softer and more commercial. They aren't a bad band—I would never say that—but, honestly, I consider them a rock or glam rock band, not a metal band. That’s just my opinion; I know that glam metal was widely detested—though I don't hate it, and I would never hate a musical genre, since all music is good—but even so, I maintain that Mötley Crüe is rock, not metal. Or perhaps the fault lies with me for comparing Mötley Crüe to other bands.

Have you ever been to a Black Sabbath concert?

I'm a teenager, and my favorite band is Black Sabbath. Although I love them, lately I've been feeling very sad—almost as if I were going through a crisis. I feel like I was born in the right era—I enjoy modern comforts and technology—but if I could travel through time, I would do so solely to attend the concerts of my favorite bands. I wasn't able to go to Black Sabbath's final concert; they were too far away, and I didn't have the means to travel. That is why I'm asking all of you if you have ever attended one of their shows, so that I can at least hear—straight from other fans—what it felt like to see Black Sabbath live, since I couldn't go and will never have the opportunity to see them. It's like—I listen to Black Sabbath, and I feel happy and full of energy; then I remember that I never got to see them live, and that Ozzy died, and I feel sad and down.

Black Sabbath invented metal?

Black Sabbath is my favorite band. I started listening to them shortly after Ozzy's death—so that his legacy wouldn't fade away—but, being a teenager, I’ve only been listening to them for two years. I used to think that this band invented metal, although many claim otherwise; however, honestly—and despite the fact that there were bands predating Black Sabbath, such as Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin, that had heavy songs—none possessed a sound as dark and heavy as Black Sabbath's.I don't think they invented it, but they revolutionized it—and that's why they're such an important band. What do you guys think—did Black Sabbath invent and revolutionize metal, or am I just putting them on a pedestal because I'm a fan and I like their music?

Do you think I'll be able to go to the Iron Maiden concert?

I’m a teenager; I don’t like modern music, nor do I follow trends. I’m self-confident. I absolutely love metal music, and—although Iron Maiden isn’t my favorite band of all time—they rank second for me, and I absolutely love every single one of their songs. I’m under 18, and I wish with all my heart to attend their concert in Kentucky this September. I’ve never been to a concert in my life, and I know that they are one of the bands that put on the best live shows. I don’t know if I’ll be able to go, but I pray sincerely that I can, since this will be their final concert. Many people say I have bad luck for liking this kind of music, given that the musicians are either fading away or retiring. I tried to go to Ozzy’s concert but couldn’t make it—I only managed to watch it on TV—and I know that this will be Iron Maiden’s last concert. I really hope I’ll be able to attend. Many people say I have *good* luck for becoming a fan of such great music at such a young age, while others say I have *bad* luck for being a fan of bands that are retiring or artists who have already passed away. What do you guys think? Will a minor under 18 be allowed to go to an Iron Maiden concert with their parents, or will I only be able to watch them on TV, just like what happened with Ozzy?
