Candy store simulator.

Candy store simulator.

You lure them in with the thought of movies but all they get is cavities.

It's horribly inefficient by the way and not very profitable but I wanted to see if it would work. It does.

Love the Repair Desk but...

Customer: "I really like the movie I rented from here but halfway through it jump cut to the next scene as if though several seconds of the movie was just missing."

Me: *slowly puts a pair of scissors underneath the counter* "That is a weird editing choice on the movie makers part. Can I get you anything else today?"

PSA: The cheat room stopped me from getting my last achievement because of a glitch.

This is important for anyone who wants to get any new achievements the next update might add or any future update might add.

So apparently even if you start a new game it looks at your achievements and auto completes any tasks correlated with your already earned achievements from previous saves. Even if you delete ALL of your user data, like saves, and reinstall the game.

If you use the cheat room, the one you unlock for getting to level 20, before getting 100% of the achievements you get locked out of getting any more achievements on all save files even new game saves.

EVEN IF YOU DELETE ALL OF YOUR SAVE FILES, DELETE ALL OF YOUR USER DATA, UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL THE GAME, AND THEN START A NEW GAME!

I'm going to do some more testing on this and hopefully have good news. For now beware.

Repair station makes me feel weird. Anyone else?

Anyone else not liking how we use scissors to cut a large portion of the film out instead of just re-spooling the tape?

I would love a goal-oriented story mode. Here's my idea.

TLDR: A story mode with a legitimate time progression where the ultimate goal is to buy the video store that you've been leasing with the intent to run it well enough to where even after DVDs kill off VHSs you can still have your nostalgic blast from the past.

I'm sure the developer has big plans for the game, like the ability to adjust prices and more new releases, but right now it's kind of just a chill time waster. The amount of fun I have had in the 20 hours it took to 100% the game has left me wanting. What I would like to see more than anything is a story mode and here's my idea for that.

The story mode would take place over the course of 10 years. The game would start off as normal except you wouldn't own the building and instead would be leasing it. Your first and main goal would be to officially buy the building. Each month you would have to pay the leasing costs which would deduct from the overall cost of the building and you would always have the option to pay the full remaining cost and buy the building instantly.

Until you own the building you would only have the option for the first three expansions and they wouldn't really be expansions but more you would be paying cleaning and repair costs to make those parts of the store operational again. Once you own the building you would then be able to buy the remaining expansions.

This would give the player a clear goal and sense of progression. To prevent a fail state but still provide a penalty for not having the lease money at the end of the month you would be able to take out a bank loan which would have an interest payment of basically costing you 5% of your total earnings at the end of the day until you paid off the bank loan. A mild inconvenience but still something you would want to avoid. You would only be able to take out a bank loan if you were negative money which could only happen when you pay rent.

The game would play largely as it does now except new releases would come out once every 2 weeks instead of 5 days and would stay a new release for 3 weeks. The new releases would try to come out around the same time they did in real life such as Terminator 2 or "X-Terminator 2" coming out in 91, Home Alone 2 coming out in 92 and The Matrix coming out in 99. Of course the story mode could mess around with the timeline a bit like having Aliens or "Xenocat" one two and three coming out in the 90s instead of the '80s.

The story mode would end at the beginning of the year 2000 where you would get a message saying that DVDs are taking over and you can keep running your video store for nostalgia sake but there will be no more new releases on VHS. A heartfelt message stating how the past was great but we should still try to make our future a better place.

Small things like instead of leveling up to unlock new genres when a new release came out it would introduce a new genre. Such as when Home Alone comes out you get the Holiday genre. Of course the level up system can stay this was just an idea I had to make it more in line with the story.

Just my idea on it. Let me know what you guys think. Maybe I'll even try to mod this in some way.

I just did the meteor shower event that was supposed to have plus 80% science fiction rentals and yet I didn't rent a single science fiction film. Literally not one science fiction film.

I had two shelves full of nothing but science fiction even had a little UFO hanging above them and yet not one was rented. I suppose I could have just got some really bad RNG but that doesn't seem likely.

Anyone else experiencing this?
