So I am in pretty desperate need of serious dental work.
Long story short. I’m 29 and didnt take the best care of my teeth. I do now but that doesn’t immediately help the situation I’m in.
So back during Christmas I broke a few of my molars in a pretty catastrophic way. I went to the dentist for the first time in probably 8 years. They told me exactly what I already knew. Basically my teeth are fucked and I need most of a full restoration. I got the few molars extracted and they out implants in place. The experience car was awful for a few reasons but that’s not really what this post is about. I recently found a dentist I really like but they’re out of network which means I’m gonna pay quite a bit more out of pocket for the work. I got quoted about 30k worth of work (before insurance) just for the immediate work that I need to my front 6 teeth and a few other smaller things. The dentist is charging about 3200/ crown. I know it’s on the high end. I want to know if it’s worth going to an out of network dentist to get this level of work done. I have the money to pay what I need to pay. So it’s not a question of if I can afford it. I just want to know if there’s actually a difference for that kind of work if I went to someone much cheaper and in network. Has anyone chosen the cheap option and regret it?
EDIT: for everyone asking about my insurance. I can go out of network and for the work that is being done there is no cap. They cover 80% of restorative work with no cap for in network. I can go out of network but I’m on the hook for the cost difference. Again. It’s not a question of if I can afford it. The question is, is it worth getting “quality work”. I don’t want teeth that look fake.
