Waze app routing ride share and delivery drivers to private back gate (Florida)

I live in Del Webb Orlando, a private, gated 55+ community We have a main visitor gate (manned 24/7) and a separate residents‑only back gate that is clearly signed “Residents Only, Private Property, No Trespassing, No Tailgating” and requires a transponder (no call box or keypad) to enter.

The Waze GPS app continues to route Uber/Lyft/delivery drivers to this residents‑only back gate, despite multiple written notices from  the HOA president and residents, sent photos of the signs, and explanations that the gate is not a public entrance. Other map providers (Google Maps, Apple Maps, Mapbox) have already updated their routing to use the main visitor gate instead.

As a result of Waze's routing, non‑residents repeatedly arrive at the residents‑only gate, tailgate in, damage the gate, or drive on sidewalks to get in. The HOA pays for the gate repairs over and over, and residents feel our safety and security is compromised.

Waze is a crowdsourced app, like Wikipedia, and uses volunteers (referred to as editors) to keep the map accurate. The editors use guidance called the Wazeopedia to help them edit their map when a change is requested. These editors insist that this guidance tells them they need to keep the back gate as public for the residents because they are the majority that use this gate. The Wazeopedia has guidance for what is called a Private Installation, which is what a gated community falls under, and that guidance says the primary purpose of a private installation is to prevent unauthorized vehicles entering the perimeter, because that would inconvenience the vast majority, the public, because they would be given an inaccurate route through a location where they would likely be stopped.

One of the Waze editors even drew a line around the perimeter of the gate area and blocked it from further changes, with a notation that says "This is a valid gate."

I am very affected by this because I do not own a vehicle for medical reasons. There are a lot of gig drivers in my area that do not speak, read, or understand English well. I have missed doctor's appointments and not received deliveries because of this. Uber/Lyft/delivery drivers are being given inaccurate routing information and get frustrated. I have had drivers call and yell at me for giving them an incorrect address.

Anyone else experience this?

This is a back gate to a private 55+ community. Residents use transponders to enter it. A sign in front tells drivers that there is "No soliciting, No tailgating, No trespassing, Private property". A sign on the actual gate says "Non-residents must use front entrance...". Because this back gate is not marked as private/restricted, gig drivers are directed here when it is shorter/faster than going to the main manned front gate where they can be properly vetted. I live in an area where many of these gig drivers do not understand, speak or read English well. In an attempt to get in some have broken the gate, driven on the side walk, or tailgate residents. I do not own a vehicle for medical reasons, and I rely on these gig drivers, but because this gate has not been changed to private, I have missed a doctor's appointment and not received meals ordered. I have been called and yelled at by a driver who insisted I gave him the wrong address. I'm afraid to use Uber or Lyft to get to the airport or the train station where arrival time is important. Myself and the HOA president have tried going through the Waze forums, but this same volunteer "Champ" refuses to change it from a public gate, and other Champs support him. Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Mapbox have changed it.
