First (and likely last) time with DAC

Prepare for rant.

Man… I’ve never diamond painted in my life, but I live in a town where I have no friends (my car stopped running about 2.5 years ago and I drifted apart from all of them because I could never travel to get-togethers), my fiancé ghosted me eight months ago, my job is absolutely miserable and my mother has cancer (and I can’t visit her because of the aforementioned transportation issue). Life has been freaking DARK. But I finally decided diamond painting seemed like such a “me” hobby, since I love jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, basically anything crafty I can do with an ebook or Netflix in the background.

Made my first purchase two months ago from DAC since I kept reading they have the best quality, despite the customer service issues. And you know what? At this point, I have to agree: I’m over it. I ordered two paintings for $142 (on a credit card because I really couldn’t afford it but needed a smile in my life for once) but one was a preorder. Found out AFTER hitting “submit” that neither would ship until the preorder arrived. Two months later, I’m still SOL because the preorder got “stuck in customs” two weeks ago. Like… no disrespect but what kind of company operates like that? It was already irritating that I needed to wait a month until the preorder dropped in order for the other to ship, and you’re telling me now I’m screwed because of YOUR organization issues? (I work in international purchasing: customs is either their fault DIRECTLY or their fault indirectly because they didn’t do their homework when drafting an agreement with their supplier.) Seems to me that if the preorder is stuck at customs I shouldn’t be penalized for their mistake. Ship the one that IS available, ffs. I swear, if the preorder finally gets un-stuck only for them to say “The other one is no longer available,” I will lose my absolute mind. I ordered these in the first place to enjoy over my once-a-year, extraordinarily necessary stay-cation, and that ship has already sailed.

Today I looked at the FAQ on their site hoping to see something about customs delays. No cigar, but I DID see their response to “My order says delivered but it isn’t here” was basically “Sorry, not our problem.” I’m not sure I’ve EVER seen that in my life — any company who cares about their customer base in the slightest is more than willing to help.

I’m embarrassed for their business practices. Never again. As a still-virgin (thanks to DAC) to diamond painting… never again.
